Well, another year is almost done - so I thought what better time to update the blog! Lots of things to go through, so i've tried to keep it as condensed as possible!!
Firstly, just need to mention the party I DJ'd at the other night. The 20th of December saw me DJing at the Russian Bar, Kingsland Road London for "Freitag". The party was really good fun with the place packing out around 130/2am. Me and "The Smirk" aka Rik Vincent from Tweek!! played from 1230 til 2am, with residents James Monday and Dimitry Slyusarenko wrapping up the night. Before us was DJ's Ali Macdonald, Stuart Brazewell and Martin Lange - all of which played excellent sets too. Hopefully we will be back to play again at Freitag, so will get some photo's next time and do a proper review!
So back to the rest of year!
2008 has been more about the DJing and networking rather than producing tunes and releasing material on Kinetic Groove.
One of the big things for me in 2008 was the launch party for my label, which took place in April. Despite some hicups along the way and a fair share of problems leading up to and on the night, the party was a huge success with an excellent turn out of people. The party saw sets from Ben Hoo, as well as our most recent signing Paolo Bernacchia aka "Lord of Crows".
I've also been very lucky to travel out to Germany a number of times this year to DJ at the NFF club in Bremen. Bremen is starting to become some what of a second home for Kinetic Groove and as such saw the label throw it's first party outside of the UK - at the NFF Club, Bremen. What's better is the second Kinetic Groove party will now be taking place on the 7th of Feburary 2009!
I also have to mention quite possibly one of the best parties of 2008, of which I've met some excellent people and lots of great contacts. Rainbow Value was a free daytime party that took place at Brick lanes infamous 93ft East throughout the summer. The party attracted a massive amount of people, as well as some big name DJ's. What's more the party was all for charity, something that i've not seen in London before. Sadly the party is no more, but i'm pleased to say that everyone keeps in touch. Let's hope a similar party comes back next year!
More recently we've finally started getting the ball rolling with the Kinetic Groove website. The label has a fair web presence (myspace, facebook, this blog etc etc) but needs its own identity, instead of using someone else's layout and template. In addition to this the website will be a great way to promote the label's artists by means of podcasts, downloadable mixes, gallerys and so on. The website is still in the very early stages of design, with no launch date planned yet - I do however plan to have the label's first podcast available for download in the first part of 2009.
So that's it really for 2008, but what's going to be happening in 2009 at Kinetic Groove?
*Kinetic Groove returns to Bremen on Feb 7th 2009!
*The first Kinetic Groove Podcast!
*The Launch of the Kinetic Groove website!
*Kinetic Groove's 2nd Birthday - yes 2 years old!!
+ who's know's what else could happen!
A big thank you to everyone who has been a part of Kinetic Groove in 2008, 2009 is going to be an exciting year for the label - so stick around!
Happy New Year!

Freitag Xmas Special - 20/12/08

Hello all and Merry Christmas (Can I say that yet?)
Just to let you know that I'll be DJing in London on the 20th of December for Freitag's Xmas Party @ The Russian Bar. I'll be going B2B with The Smirk aka Rik Vincent from Tweek!, alongside Freitag's residents Dimitry Slyusarenko and James Monday.
Just to give you a bit of background on Freitag, I recently went to James and Dimitrys spin off Party "Ickle Freitag" at Underbelly (underneath Zigfid, Hoxton Square). The party was absolutely packed with party goers, complete with a great atmosphere and music to match. The party was the perfect warm up for a night out at Fabric :-)
Freitag is their Monthly night with the aim of providing quality underground House, Mininmal and Tech House - all from up and coming DJ's. With the superclubs cramming more and more people on their dance floors every week, its comforting to see smaller promoters are not giving up the battle and are continuing to put on nights with lesser known DJ's like myself.
Anyways, if you're in East London and fancy a Xmas shin dig - get yourself down to the Russian Bar on Kingsland Road. From Liverpool Street Station you can get the 149, 67, 242, 243 and get off at Laburnum Street. Alternatively its a 7min walk from Hoxton Square. If you have any other queries about the party, e-mail me - stefan@kineticgroove.com
Hope to see you there!

Weekend done! Bremen Style
Firstly, please excuse me, but I must mention how bad Ryanair is! The flight itself was fine, but the pantomime leading up to it was unbelievable. No check in desks at all, just BA style self service check in - complete with "Fast Bag Drop". Checking myself in was fine, however the Fast bag drop took a rapid (wait for it) 1 hour!!!!! I've flown 5 times this year and even been through the presses favorite Terminal Heathrow Terminal 5, and only had to queue for 15 minutes at most - Shocking! Rant over
The usual schedule took place when arriving in Bremen. I was met by Sven who is one of the promoters and DJ's in Bremen. We caught some food and then headed to the Hotel. Plan was to head to the club for about 1am, so enough time to chill out, watch "die Simpsons", sample the minibar and then get ready.
In my haste to leave the UK, I spent more time sorting my records instead of sorting my clothes. As a result I had a bag full of quite impressively creased garments. In search of an Iron and Ironing board I shortly found myself in reception trying to explain to the night porter that I needed an Iron. After a failed charades show and some really bad diagrams, I returned to my room Ironless and got ready.
I caught a Taxi to the club. The road system in Bremen reminds me of Amsterdam e.g. complete chaos! Trams and Buses rule the roads, while bikes rule the pavement. Luckily the club was only round the corner.
On arriving at the club, I was greeted in the usual way by my good friend and Club Manager Jan - which involves a shot of this stuff called "Friesengeist". I absolutely hate shots, but this stuff I can handle - even if it does blow your socks off. This was closely followed by another flavour of Becks beer i've never tried and will probably never try again. For the next hour or so I had a good chance to catch up with another friend Arno aka MC Motion, and also meet Jan's lovely Girlfriend Kat and of course drink some more Friesengeist.
I played my set from 2 til about 4. Unfortuantely not as many people came to the club compared to my previous visits, but there was still enough people to party until the early hours! After another Friesengeist it was time to head back to the hotel. I decided to walk and actually found my way quite easily, compared to last time I visited Bremen where I found myself walking towards the Becks Brewery (completely the wrong way).
On arriving at the hotel quite drunk and armed with a German Phrasebook on my ipod touch, i had a conversation with the same night porter. I walked away with a clean towel and a bottle of Paulaner Lager, still no Iron though...
Day 2 started very shortly after I arrived back at the hotel. "House Keeping..., oh entschuldigen!". Obviously the Maid's are used to normal people going to sleep at normal hours and not going out at 1am. I managed however to get a few more hours sleep, before ringing Arno. We met up for dinner, both nursing hangovers. As Arno's was far worse than mine, I introduced him to the amazing medicinal properties of an ice cold 0.5L of Sprite - worked a treat.
By the time we had finished dinner, it was time to go back to the hotel and get some more sleep - as I was due to DJ at the after party for Get Neon. Headlining at Get Neon was Moonbootica and Pan-pot, needless to say that the clientelle going to this party were going to be the "after party type". After a good sleep and watching repeats of the CNN news articles from the previous day, I got ready and donned a very creased shirt. Seeing as I had succesfully found my way home from the club the night before, I decided to walk this time. Bremen was alive with lots of people drinking in the streets and getting ready to party, alot of which were heading to the ELZ club where get Neon was being held.
I got to the NFF club for about 130am and picked up where we had left off from the night before. Unfortunately I was then given some bad news. The Polizei had recently been to the club and advised that all clubs in Bremen must stop playing music at 4am at the council's request! What a nightmare. We still played music til 4am on the dot and had a great time in the process. More drink was drunk, i left the club at near 6.
Day 3 was similar to day 2, only this time the hotel actually needed the room for someone else (you can kind of guess what time they woke me up). Plan for the day was to go and Watch the Werder Bremen match at the pub, but there just wasn't enough time. There was enough time for a quick tour of the town with Arno and to enjoy the drunken chants of Cologne and Bremen football fans. I then met up with Jan and Kat for some more hangover remidies and then headed to the airport, where my weekend in Bremen ended.
As you can see, I didn't get much in the way of photos. Mainly because I wasn't accompanied by a Photographer like last time and my own camera is crap! I'll take a better one next time, or atleast get someone else to take them! Added to this Blogger.com isn't letting me upload photos at the moment Grrrr
Thanks to everyone who came to the event. And a big thanks to Sven, Arno, Kat and Jan for looking after me all weekend.
KINETIC GROOVE WILL BE RETURNING TO BREMEN IN EARLY 2009 - STAY TUNED FOR MORE DETAILS!

We're Back!
Hi Everyone!
It's been a while, but Kinetic Groove is back, well almost! Myself and the label have recently moved house so its been a bit hectic to keep things running during the move. Having said that the Studio is set up, the internet is working finally and we're good to go.
I thought i'd use this opportunity to give you a quick update on what's going on at Kinetic Groove at the moment, as well as the coming months.
First up I'm pleased to announce that Kinetic Groove will be holding another label party, this time traveling over to Bremen in Germany. I'll be traveling out on the 14th of November to DJ alongside my friends DJ Kaylab and S-file at the NFF club in the heart of Bremen (see my last post for info on the NFF). More details are to follow on this night so keep an eye out.
Secondly there will be some new material coming out on the label. Lord of Crow's is putting the finishing touches to his Discovery EP and we expect to deliver previews of this very soon. Also, Ben Hoo will also be releasing an original track, hopefully with a remix by me - again, stay tuned for more information.
So, hope you are all well and thanks for your support!
Cheers
