Kinetic Groove Loves Freitag

I'm pleased to say that I'll be DJing again at one of my favorite parties in London on August the 1st. Freitag takes place on the first Saturday of every month at the Russian Bar on Kingsland Road.

If you haven't already been to a Freitag party, residents James and Dimitry serve up a mix of House, Tech House and Minimal, along with guest DJ's delivering the very best in underground music.

The party kicks off at 9pm and is free before 10pm, £5 there after. Guest DJ's joining James and Dimitry this month are myself, Mutant and Larry Macfaul

So What's going on?

July already, damm! Being half way through 09, its time for an update on all things Kinetic Groove.

June 30th saw the release of Loren's self entitled EP on the label. The release has had some excellent reviews and also great feedback from Shurikan, Anil Chawla, Einzelkind and Andre Crom to name a few! 1st of July we had Ben Hoo in to mix epsiode 06 of the Kgroove podcast, which has proved to be the most popular yet - well done Ben!

As we move into August, it's time for the 2nd release on Kinetic Groove, this time from new artist Robert Cashin. Also joining Robert on this release will be DJ & Producer Jim Knox (Kinetic Groove Podcast Episode 05) delivering an excellent remix of Robert's track "Kaba". Previews of the release will be available very soon.

The 1st of August will also see Episode 07 of the Kinetic Groove Podcast touching down, we're really excited about this one - more details available soon. 15th of August Label Manager Stefan Cordery will be heading out to Ibiza to DJ @ Rainbow Value at the Zoo Project and yes, the infamous Maze has made it to the island, expect some inflatable shenanigans and techno debauchery!

Looking ahead to Sept, we're pleased to announce that Kinetic Groove will once again be returning to Bremen Germany to throw another party, making the event the label's 3rd visit to the NFF Club!

So rather a lot going on! Thank you to everyone who's been supporting the label by buying tracks and downloading the podcast. Have a great summer!

Loren EP Review on Music-Dash.co.uk

Taken from www.music-dash.co.uk, review by Parker Knoll

"Born and raised in Manchester, a young man called Christopher is the man behind Loren. It’s a remix / computer composed project that finds a rhythmic cocktail supplemented by loops and samples and segments of various field recordings. “Lost Language” is a drum pattern, subtly narrated by distant echoed voices, barely audible but high in atmospheric effect. Amazingly, Loren transfixes his soundtracks with just a series of beats and very little in the way of musical intervention. There’s just a hint of a note and a faint vocal cry evaporating on the distance, well into three minutes of the second track “Brixton Lights”. Each number seems to maintain the same BPM and the final outing “Back & Forth”, provides the same hypnotic mixing and programming style - which it seems is powerful enough to keep a rave going all night (and day) long. Unusual, but this will be firmly revered on any club turntable"
